COACFE Scholarship Agreement
This Agreement is made and entered into by and between the Central Ohio - Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (hereinafter referred to as “Central Ohio Chapter”), and applicant (hereinafter referred to as “Candidate” and/or “Recipient”). WHEREAS, the Central Ohio Chapter will offer scholarships (cost of study materials and exam) for eligible chapter members to study and sit for the Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE) exam. Winner(s) of said scholarship(s) will be announced at the next Emerging Trends in Fraud Investigation & Prevention Conference. WHEREAS, the Central Ohio Chapter has established requirements that must be met in order for the candidate to be considered for a scholarship; WHEREAS, Candidate, confirms that she/he meets all the scholarship requirements as established by the Central Ohio Chapter; WHEREAS, Candidate acknowledges that as part of becoming eligible for said scholarship, she/he hereby executes the underlying Agreement and agrees to be bound and obligated by its terms and conditions; NOW, THEREFORE, the Central Ohio Chapter and Candidate, in consideration of the mutual covenants and promises contained herein and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, and with the intent to be legally bound, hereby contract and agree as follows: I. EFFECTIVE DATE This Agreement is binding as of the date of its execution and delivery. II. SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS The Central Ohio Chapter sets forth the following requirements of which the Candidate acknowledges she/he has met or has demonstrated compliance with such by supplying the requisite documentation to the Central Ohio Chapter, acknowledging that: · Candidate is in good standing with the ACFE and is a Central Ohio Chapter member at the time of application; · Candidate is an Associate Member of the ACFE (paid ACFE global annual dues); · Candidate has a minimum of two years of professional experience in a fraud related profession; and · Candidate has obtained a four-year college degree or possesses comparable professional experience – as required by ACFE global. II. RECIPIENT’S OBLIGATIONSA Candidate who subsequently becomes a recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Central Ohio Chapter, hereby agrees that upon passing the CFE exam, shall agree to serve either as a committee volunteer or as an elected position or appointed position (i.e., Chapter Training Director) for the Central Ohio Chapter’s board of directors for a term no less than two years and within the first three years upon passing the exam. IV. CENTRAL OHIO CHAPTER’S OBLIGATIONS & CONDITIONS The Central Ohio Chapter will provide computerized study materials to the Recipient. When the Recipient notifies the Central Ohio Chapter that she/he is ready to take the exam, the Central Ohio Chapter will remit payment to ACFE global for the exam (one time). Any additional times the CFE exam is taken will be at the cost of the Recipient. V. RESTRICTIONS & PARAMETERS The Recipient will have up to one year to take and pass the CFE exam upon receiving the study materials. Failure to do so will require the Recipient to reimburse the Central Ohio Chapter $500. The candidate is required to provide the Central Ohio Chapter the following: · Letter from employer stating candidate’s years of professional experience in fraud related profession · No more than a one-page explanation of why the candidate should be awarded a Central Ohio Chapter ACFE – Danny Case CFE Exam Scholarship VI. GOVERNING LAWS The laws of the State of Ohio shall govern this Agreement and action related thereto shall be in the Courts of Franklin County, Ohio. VII. NON-WAIVER No failure to exercise or delay in exercising on the part of the Central Ohio Chapter, any right, power, or privilege hereunder shall operate as a waiver therefore, or will any single or partial exercise of any right, power, or privilege hereunder preclude the further exercise of the same right or the exercise of any other right. VIII. GENERAL PROVISION If any part of this Agreement is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment shall not affect or nullify the remainder of this Agreement, which shall remain in full force and effect. IX. AMENDMENT This Agreement can only be modified or amended in writing by a duly authorized Representative of each party. |
